Nearly 50 people registered for the Michigan Organ Donor Registry at the Harrison District Library during the Michigan Libraries 4 Life two day campaign last week. Harrison’s library was one of 28
libraries across the state to participate. “This campaign provides hope to every one of the 3,000 Michigan patients waiting for an organ transplant, ” said Gift of Life Michigan’s CEO, Richard Pietroski.
“Libraries are a natural place to go for information and community services. This program is a great way to educate Michigan residents that signing the back of the driver’s license is no longer how it’s
done, and to provide library patrons the opportunity to join the state’s Donor Registry.” Michigan residents who join the state’s Donor Registry will receive a re heart donor symbol for the front of
their driver’s license or state ID card.
