Clare County Senior Services

According the Clare County Senior Services 2010 annual report, “Volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others or a particular cause without payment for their time and services…intended to promote good or improve human quality of life.”

Life after retirement doesn’t need to be boring. Now there is time to help others.

For example, more than 100 volunteers help provide meals, care and services to the seniors in Clare County through Senior Services. “The Senior Services staff is a very dedicated, hardworking and talented group of people.”

Clare County volunteers not only generously donate their time, money and skills,” the annual report said, “but also make an extraordinary impact on those they serve. Through their dedication, thousands of hours have been donated to the Senior Services program by the home-delivered meals drivers, congregate meal site volunteers, medical transportation drivers and many others.”

At the recent volunteer recognition, Clare County Senior Services Director Lori Ware said, “Volunteers are special people. In a busy world they have time for other people. In a selfish world they are givers…volunteers will be the first to admit that they too gain from their efforts. They make new friends and learn skills they hadn’t got before. Nice people volunteer.”
