Attempt to stop suicide leads to accident

Two people were injured last Saturday when an attempt to stop a suicide resulted in an auto accident.

Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched April 6 at 8 p.m. to “a multiple injury accident on Townline Lake Road in Harrison.

During the accident investigation, they learned that the driver, 20-year-old Gary Miracle from Avella, Pennsylvania, was attempting to stop a 24-year-old Harrison woman in the backseat of the vehicle from committing suicide when he lost control and hit multiple trees.

Robert Norton, 28, of Harrison, was treated for minor injuries at the scene and Ashley Miracle, 24, of Harrison was more seriously injured. She was taken to MidMichigan Medical Center –Gladwin Emergency Room for treatment. The driver and another passenger, Tara Bennett, 21, also of Harrison were not injured.

No tickets were issued but the driver of the vehicle was listed at fault. Mobile Medical Response assisted at the scene.
