Klaus Announces Candidacy for Clare and Gladwin Probate Court

     Clare attorney Marcy A. Klaus today officially announced her candidacy for the 17th District Probate Court seat serving Clare and Gladwin counties. The court’s jurisdiction includes probate and family law cases and covers all of Clare and Gladwin counties. The work of this court includes adoptions, guardianships, divorce, child custody,  juvenile, disability, wills, trusts and estate matters.

Marcy Klaus is a partner with the law firm of Allen & Klaus LLP. She has practiced law in Clare since 1999 handling a variety of family and probate matters. Ms. Klaus routinely appears in the 17th District Probate Court on estate, guardianship, adoption, divorce, custody, and juvenile cases. She recently completed the State Bar of Michigan’s Institute of Continuing Legal Education Family Law Certificate Program.

Ms. Klaus is a respected member of the bar and has a reputation for being a dedicated, hard working and disciplined advocate on behalf of her clients. “Since 1999, I have worked almost exclusively in the areas of family and probate law” Ms. Klaus said. She added, “I am excited about the possibility of serving the citizens of our area by bringing my extensive experience to the probate bench”. Marcy Klaus has volunteered with numerous civic and community organizations. She has been a Clare Public School mentor, led the Rotary Adopt a Family Christmas Program and sat as a board member of Clare library. Ms. Klaus currently serves on the Clare County Arts Council Board, is Vice-Chair of the St. Cecilia School Committee and is a member of the Clare Rotary International and Harrison Lions Club International.

Marcy Klaus grew up in Clare and attended the public schools there. In high school, she earned a varsity letter in volleyball and was active in student organizations. While she was a student at Michigan State University, Marcy worked for the university and was a member of the MSU equestrian and horse judging team. Ms. Klaus graduated from Valparaiso University College of Law, worked briefly in Dallas and then returned to her hometown with her husband and now law partner, J.J. Klaus. Marcy and J.J. live in Clare and have two children, Andrew, 5, and Sutton, 2.
