Barricaded gunman finally gives up

A Mt. Pleasant man was arrested and charged with home invasion last Friday after he allegedly broke into a Wise Township home.

Blake Ryan Ketner, 29, was arrested on five counts including home invasion, assault with a dangerous weapon, larceny, assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer and felony firearm.

According to the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department, Ketner had broken into a residence in the 9000 block of East Coleman Road around 12:43 p.m. and while he was in the home, the owner returned home. Ketner struggled with the homeowner and escaped after hitting him in the head. The homeowner fired a weapon at Ketner but did not hit him, the report said.

Ketner was located at his mother’s home in the 8000 block of North Wise Road. He had barricaded himself in the home. He was arrested around 8:51 p.m. with the help of Clare Police, Mt. Pleasant Police, Shepherd Police, the Saginaw-Chippewa Tribal Police, Michigan State Police, Coleman Police, the Midland Sheriff’s Department, Clare County Sheriff’s Department, and BAYANET. Also assisting were the Isabella County Emergency Services Team and Mobil Medical Response.
