BB Gun causes cautionary lockdown

December 9, 2011

On 12-8-11 at approximately 2:50 pm Clare City Police Officers responded to a suspicious situation at the Clare Medical Arts Building Parking lot at 602 Beech St. It was reported that a man was sitting inside a black colored GMC Jimmy putting a scope on a rifle.

Officers made contact with the man and investigation revealed the man was actually putting a scope onto his new BB gun rifle as he was waiting for a family member inside the Doctor’s Office. The man had just purchased the long gun and another BB gun pistol and said he was bored while waiting so he decided to mount the scope onto the rifle. It was determined he was not intending to harm anyone. Precautionary lockdown measures were taken until the incident could be resolved.

The male, a 38 year old from Harrison, was arrested on a warrant out of Saginaw County and turned over to them for their charges.

The Clare City Police were assisted at the scene by the Clare County Sheriff Department.
