Bob’s Party Store is now open for business at 4012 N. Clare Ave., Harrison.

The 4,000 square foot facility has seven aisles full of a variety of goods for purchase. They even make their own pizza, nachos, and chili dogs and have Slush Puppies, hand-dipped ice cream and cappuccinos.

“We have been selling a boat load of pizza. I have two ovens and I have made over 200 pizzas in the last ten days,’’ owner Robert Flowers said. “I make my own pizza sauce and stuff plus I have a different item on sale for lunch every day like nachos were yesterday (Tuesday), sloppy Joes the next day, BLT’s and chili dogs.”

The big focus for the store is beer and the store is stocked full of a large selection of it. He has major brands as well as craft beers and local micro-brews from around Michigan.

“Our big focus is beer at reasonable prices.  I am really pushing it because I want people to come to me in the winter,” Flowers said. “Of my last three beer orders two were the largest in Harrison.”

Before Flowers but the party store it had been sitting vacant after the last owners had to close it, three years ago. Flowers grew up in Harrison, so he bought the store and has been putting lots of energy into making it the place to shop.

The store has just been approved for Food Stamps, but won’t be able to accept them for two weeks. Flowers has also applied to sell hunting and fishing licenses as well as lottery tickets. The store even has its own Facebook page where customers can hear about specials if they like the page.

“I will be putting specials up for our fans like buy a case of beer get a free bag of ice and stuff like that,” Flowers said. “People like that because you’re in touch with them and if you’re involved in the community and you take care of people and you’re nice to people and they will come back to you.”

Flowers will be working at the store full time after Friday, so he will be able to make pizzas all day. He had been selling whole pizzas from 5:30 p.m. to close each night, but he will be starting at noon from now on. The store is open Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to Midnight and Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, call 989-539-3443 or visit the Facebook page, Bobs Party Store.
