Raymond James Bostwick, arrested June 14, 2013, has pled guilty to two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in connection with an incident with an adult family member earlier that month.
Bostwick was arrested after an adult family member reported the CSC June 13, 2013 after an investigation by former Detective Mike Coon and Detective Erica Vredevelt.
Reportedly the charge stemmed from an incident that happened about a week earlier. He was initially charged with second degree CSC.
A jury trial began under Judge Roy Mienk in Clare County Circuit Court last week. Bostwick was charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree and a second count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Fourth Degree (Incest).
Bostwick initially pled not guilty to the charges, but after a day and a half of testimony, he entered a plea of guilty on August 27 to both counts. The jury heard from the victim, law enforcement, expert witness Patricia Haist, and others.
The Defendant made the decision to plead guilty as charged after the jury watched his video recorded confession, Prosecutor Michelle Ambrozaitis said in a press release.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 22, 2014, at 11:00am, by Judge Mienk. Assistant Prosecutor Kelsey Guernsey handled the case, according to Ambrozaitis.
