Three Amish area residents were injured when their buggy was hit by a vehicle at the corner of Hoover and Adams Road September 5, according to a release from Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski.
The Sheridan Township accident happened after the driver of the buggy, Lizzieann Troyer, was northbound on Hoover when she failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled in front of the vehicle, which was driven by Gladwin County resident Susan Jane Roe, according to deputies responding to the accident.
Despite her attempts to swerve and miss the buggy, Roe’s vehicle struck the other between the horse and the buggy, according to the accident report.
Troyer was taken to MidMichigan Medical Center – Clare with non-life threatening facial lacerations. The other two passengers in the buggy were treated on the scene for minor injuries.
Roe was not injured.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Service and by the Clare City Fire Department.
