Car, buggy collide

Only minor injuries were reported early Saturday morning after an Amish buggy was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Express Van on M61 at Athey Road in Hamilton Township.

The Clare County Sheriff’s Department reported that both vehicles were westbound on M61 when a 40-year old Gladwin man hit the buggy from behind. The man said he was distracted by a sneezing attack.

An Amish family – husband, 29, wife,23, and seven month old baby – were thrown from the buggy by the impact.

They were treated at the scene by United Rescue Ambulance and Mobil Medical Response personnel then transported to MidMichigan Medical Center – Gladwin’s Emergency Room where they were treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the van was treated for minor injuries by Emergency personnel on the scene.
