Slippery, snow covered roads are being blamed for an accident early Saturday that killed a man on M-61 four miles west of Gladwin.
State Police from the West Branch Post said the man, who was driving a Ford Taurus, lost control on the slippery roads and crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming box truck around 7:30 a.m. He was killed instantly. Troopers would not release the man’s name or that of the truck driver, who sustained minor injuries in the accident and was treated on the scene.
An on-line obituary identified the driver of the Taurus as Ronald Paul Maxson, 37, of Harrison, who had lived most of his life in and around Gladwin. He was a 1994 graduate of Gladwin High School with a BA from Adrian College and was employed at the Gladwin Post Office.
Maxon is survived by his parents Ron and Cathy Maxson; his fiancé, Sarah Langlois; his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Maxson; and by his niece, Alexandria Maxson; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and life-long friends.
Funeral services Wednesday were arranged by Sisson Funeral Home of Gladwin.
