“We have had a lot of calls from people thinking we wouldn’t be having a parade this year,” Farwell Labor Day Committee Chair Gina Hamilton said. “We want the community to know we are having a parade on Labor Day!”
“There won’t be a fair at the Farwell Labor Day Celebration,” said Hamilton. “But the Figure 8 Derby and fireworks following at dusk are still happening on Saturday night, August 30th beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the parade will still be held on Monday, September 1 at 10 a.m.”
She said the committee has been unable to get a company to put on the annual carnival this year. “A lot of special events are having the same difficulty,” she added. “It is too late for us now.”
Hamilton said Farwell will also host community-wide garage sales for the weekend and the fairgrounds will be open for additional sales space for both Village residents and anyone outside the Village who would like to use a space.
