Clare passed an early season test Tuesday night, topping host Bullock Creek in both games of a non-league doubleheader, 6-3 and 5-2.
“We played pretty well for how much we have been outside,” Clare head coach Skeet Colosky said. “We still have improvement but it was good to see them get some quality game experience in.”
Colton Punches was the winner in game one, giving up one earned run in five innings while also striking out four batters. Camden Dice came in to pitch the last two innings, striking out two batters and walking one to earn the save.
Charlie Bugbee earned the win in the night-cap, pitching seven innings and giving up two unearned runs on six hits and three strikeouts.
Leading hitters on the day were Punches with three hits and an RBI and Mason Packard with two hits and one RBI. Matthew Magnus, Erik Hasenfratz, Gabe Denton, Conner Clickner and Bugbee also added base hits, with Magnus and Hasenfratz both hitting in one run apiece.
Clare (2-0) hosted Shepherd on Thursday and hosts Cadillac on Monday.
