The Clare varsity cross country teams competed at the Bullock Creek Invitational at Midland’s Stratford Woods on Saturday, with the boys’ team winning the meet and the girls’ team coming in third in the 17-team event.
Hunter Nivison was the individual winner in the boys’ race, running a time of 16:37. Kyler Phillips and Kevin Spicer-Torres placed fifth and sixth with times of 17:21 and 17:30, Ben Haupt was 17th at 18:26, Chase Field was 29th at 18:58, Nick Wertheimer placed 45th at 19:56, Mike Wertheimer came in 72nd at 21:04 and Scotty Baldwin crossed 92nd at 22:01.
Jasmine Harper led the girls with a second place finish and time of 19:30, Victoria Harper was sixth at 20:27 and Holly Pummell was 12th at 21:27 to round out Lady Pioneer medal winners. Madison McPhee was next in 33rd at 23:31, Hannah Brown was 35th at 23:47, Makenzie Harmon was 49th at 24:22, Sam Gray placed 53rd at 24:28, Amanda Yats crossed 56th at 24:31, Jordyn Bradley came in 65th at 25:03, Sarah Gray was 68th at 25:14, Megan Sheredy placed 74th with a time of 25:37, Alexis Harton was 81st at 25:55, Ashley Boulis came in 83rd a 26:03, Olivia Walworth crossed 92nd timing out at 26:39, Bethanie Jones placed 113th at 28:12, Jilian Pappas was 114th at 28:13 and Hannah Bauman finished 123rd at 29:14.
“We are continuing to improve and to work towards the big goals that we have for our season,” Clare girls head coach Kyle McKown said.
The teams ran at Meridian on Wednesday, run at the Holly Invitational on Saturday and compete in the first Jack Pine Conference jamboree on Wednesday in Harrison.
