Thanks to three Clare teachers, students at Clare Primary will have a new iPad lab, first grade sound systems and be able to visit a museum. Shown here are teachers Michael Wright, Monica Wieferich and Donna Venglar.
Monica wrote a grant on behalf of the first grade teachers for 5 “Front Row” sound systems for the 1st grade classrooms. This is the microphone and speaker system that gives every student have a “front row” seat. She was approved for the amount of $3,750. The Clare Education Boosters also donated $250 to the Front Row Project.
Michael wrote an $8,500 grant to help fund a 1-to-1 iPad lab for students to use in music class, grades K-4. With these devices, students will have opportunities to listen to, record, create, and respond to music, as well as share completed projects on the internet.
Those two grants were through ClareYAC (Clare Youth Action Council), a project of the Clare Community Foundation which is supported by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
Donna wrote the third grant on behalf of the 4th grade to cover transportation costs for a museum visit, and was approved for the full amount of $223. The grant is from the Michigan Youth Arts and the Michigan Council for the Arts & Cultural Affairs.
