Clare soccer off to rough start

Clare couldn’t hang with host Gladwin on Tuesday night, falling to the Flying G’s 8-0. Gladwin’s Jacob Garafalo netted three goals while Hayden Scott tallied two goals and three assists. Gladwin led 3-0 at the half before burying five second half goals.

On Thursday, Aug. 23 the Pioneers served as hosts to Big Rapids Charter Academy. Clare lost in the contest, though scores and stats were not provided.

James Derocco had nine saves in goal for the Pioneers.

On Tuesday, Aug. 21 Clare fell to visiting Hemlock, 5-0. The Huskies led 2-0 at the half before tallying three second half goals. Brandon Geitman had two goals to lead Hemlock to the win.

On Monday, Aug. 20 the Pioneers fell 7-0 to Freeland in their season opener. The Falcons’ Robby Boyes had three goals in the contest.

Clare (0-4) played at Pine River yesterday and hosts Reed City Sept. 4.
