Clare took care of visiting Farwell Tuesday night, sweeping the visiting Eagles 15-0 (three innings) and 15-2 (five innings) in a Jack Pine Conference baseball doubleheader.
Cameron Smith tossed three innings to earn the win in game one, without giving a hit while striking out three and walking one.
James Baer had three hits including a double and four RBI, Tayler Warner had three hits, including a double and two RBI, Cameron Smith and Charlie Bugbee both had two hits.
Shane Adkins picked up the win in game two, pitching four innings, giving up two runs on three hits, six strikeouts and two walks.
Aaron Haynak had a triple and a single and one RBI, Adkins, Smith and Ardis each had two hits, with Ardis adding a double and two RBI, Baer had a triple and two RBI/
Clare (9-8 overall, 4-1 JPC) plays at the Pinconning Invitational on Saturday and hosts Sanford Meridian on May 15.
On Saturday, May 5 Farwell played at the Lake City Invitational where they topped Whittemore-Prescott 6-3 and lost to host Lake City 2-1 in the championship.
“The team played great all day,” Farwell head coach Erik Schunk said. “Our pitching was great and our defense didn’t let up any errors in either game. Like I always tell the team, if you can throw it and catch it with confidence you will be in position to win a lot of games.”
Trent Marhofer picked up the win in game one, pitching six innings, giving up three runs, two earned on seven hits and six strikeouts.
Chris Hemskerk and Kyle Spanger had two hits apiece, Austin Hickey, Jordan Renner, Jacob Sutton and Quincy Crawford had one hit apiece.
Sutton suffered the loss in game two, pitching six innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits, four strikeouts and three walks.
Spangler had a double while Hickey, Brandon and Renner had one hit apiece.
Farwell (4-18 overall, 0-6 JPC) plays at Harrison May 15.
