Correction – Errors in House retirement article

February 27, 2015

Last week’s article about Harrison School’s Superintendent Tom House retiring this June contained some inaccurate information.
Board President Marie Roth did not give the quote attributed to her in a December Michigan Association of School Boards release about his retirement. The quote was reportedly given by another person.

In June, House will have been with the Harrison district for 36 years, not 40 as reported. He came to Harrison Schools in 1979 and taught at the high school and adult high school and in the middle school until 1991. He was middle school principal from 1991 to 1995 and principal at Harrison High School from 1995 to 2008.
House was named superintendent in the summer of 2008.

Before coming to Harrison, House was a substitute teacher for half of the 1975-76 school year in his home town of Merrill, and then taught at the middle school and the high school there from 1976 to 1979.
