Last week’s edition contained an article explaining that Greenwood Township, Sheridan Township and the Clare Public School District would be receiving Headlee Rollbacks on their property taxes; the Clare Public School District will apply only to non-homestead properties.
The amounts the county would be shorted due to the rollbacks was inadvertently reported as the total property tax revenues, not the amount of losses to the county. After speaking with County Equalization Director Kim Halis, the $4.8 million is the total revenue for the county if they board approved the 2012 Summer Property Taxes as presented by Halis. The only amounts of losses provided to the board prior to approval was the Clare Public School District amounts, which were given as a loss of $40,900 with the rollback. That number was computed by Halis on a request by the board, presented just prior to the closing of the public hearing portion of their last meeting.
The other amounts for Senior Serivces, CCTC, and the County’s 911 Dispatch were also the full amounts for revenue.
