County Commission getting new look

It will be a significantly different look on the Clare County Board of Commissioners with the new session starting in January.

Commission chairperson Karen Lipovsky is one of three Democrats leaving the Board as a result of the November election.

The next meeting will be on Jan. 16, 2019, and will include election of officers. The last session was 4-3 in favor of Democrats. But it’s 6-1 in favor of Republicans.

Lipovsky said she hasn’t seen where Republican vs. Democrat issues come into play on the county level.

“Everyone does what is best for the county,” Lipovsky said. “This is most from one party I can remember being on the board. 6-1, that’s a big majority. Usually, it’s more like 4-3, but not this time around.”
