A medical emergency may have contributed to a one-vehicle crash at the corner of Eight Point Lake Road and Lake Station Avenue in Lake late last Thursday.

James Ruth, 55 of Lake was reportedly southbound on Lake Station Avenue when his vehicle went off the road around 5 p.m. March 24 at a low speed, according to a release from the Michigan State Police.
Ruth was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders attempted to resuscitate him.
Troopers said alcohol did not appear to have been a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Garfield Township Fire/Rescue and Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Service.
