A Harrison Schools crossing guard, who was reportedly hit by a pickup Monday, is doing well at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland, according to Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski.

Jack Morrison, 77, of Harrison was attempting to stop traffic around 8 a.m. Monday, when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by Van Harrison, 51, of Harrison, according to witnesses. Circumstances surrounding the accident are still being investigated, Miedzianowski said Wednesday.

Morrison was stopping traffic on Main Street at the Broad Street intersection, when he was allegedly hit. Van Harrison told deputies he did not see Morrison due to the sun obstructing his vision. He was eastbound on Main Street at the time.

Morrison was taken to MidMichigan Medical Center – Gladwin with a head injury and bruises, and later transferred to Midland.
