Three local Disabled American Veteran (DAV) Volunteer Drivers attended this year’s Volunteer Recognition Luncheon and were each recognized for accumulating more than 100 hours of service as volunteer drivers this year alone. Bob Larson was also recognized for donating more than 750 volunteer hours in his lifetime. These gentlemen are a part of a team of eight DAV Volunteer Drivers based out of Harrison. Each of the DAV Volunteer Drivers donate their time and their expert driving skills to take veterans from Clare, Gladwin, Isabella and Midland Counties to their medical appointments at the VA Hospitals in Saginaw, Ann Arbor and Detroit. This service is offered at no cost to the veteran and is totality funded by community donations and grants from the DAV.
