Davis selected to visit China

Rebecca Davis, Salutatorian of the 2008 Farwell graduating class, winner of the female Wendy’s Heisman award in her senior year and winner of a scholar-athlete scholarship, has been selected to represent the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Training Department on a November trip to Zhejiang University in Hangshou, China in November, southeast of Shanghai.

“We are going to observe athletic training and martial arts which are taught at Zhejiang University as well as traditional Chinese medicine at a health facility in Hangshou,” Rebecca said. “The trip is funded by Zhejiang University and UNI.” Six students and two faculty members will be making the eight-day trip, she added.

Rebecca is a certified Athletic Trainer who has had her black belt, which she earned at Gateway Martial Arts of Clare, for over eight years.

Davis graduated from Graceland University in Iowa in May with a 3.89 GPA and double major/triple minor. She was also named an All-American Scholar Athlete there for Volleyball.

She accepted a paid internship at the University of Northern Iowa where she is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Athletic Training.

Rebecca is the daughter of Cathy Davis of Farwell.
