Dennis (Denny) Gervin, 54, of Farwell, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, peacefully at his home.
He was born in Saginaw, the third of five children, to Virginia (Rink) Gervin and the late Dr. Irfan Gervin. Dennis grew up in Alma and in 1979, graduated from Alma College with a Bachelors degree in Biology. On August 9, 1980, Dennis married Jill Herbst, the love of his life, in St. Clair, MI. They resided in Mathews, VA for two years, where Dennis worked as a Waterman on the Chesapeake Bay. In 1986, Dennis received his Master of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from Central Michigan University and went on to own a successful Environmental Consulting business for 23 years.
Dennis enjoyed kayaking, rowing, fishing and spending time with his family. He was known to be a great storyteller. He had a kind heart and a generous spirit.
Dennis leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 31 years, Jill Gervin, his mother, Virginia Gervin of Alma, two children, Duncan Gervin of Garden City, KS and Kelly Gervin of Farwell, three sisters, Ayla (Robert) Cummings of Ossineke, Judy Willey of Clinton Township and Amy Gray of Noblesville, IN and 9 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Irfan Gervin and sister, Susan Gervin.
A private memorial service was held with his family and close friends. Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to his favorite charity, the Isabella County Soup Kitchen. Arrangements were by Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Homes, online condolence register at www.stephenson-wyman.com
