Douglas Ray Pratt– age 66 passed away at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 3, 1946, the son of Clifford Charles and Almeda (Deverage) Pratt, in Reed City Michigan. As a young man, he very proudly served our country with the United States Army. He did his tour in Viet Nam where he was a heavy equipment operator, and was decorated with several medals.
His decorations include a National Defense Medal, Good Conduct, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign, Marksman, and most importantly a Purple Heart. Upon his discharge he continued by serving 4 years with the Army Reserves. He worked construction, and loved to hunt. Doug leaves to cherish his memory, his his son Ray Pratt and special friend Jane Skinner of Farwell, his sister Nelda Higgins and husband Larry of Farwell, grandchildren; Michelle, Michael, David, John, and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Almeda in 2008, his step-father Lloyd Bennett, and his 4 brother . A Memorial is planned for Doug on December 1, 2012, at the Farwell Church of Christ at 1 PM. Richard Maxwell will officiate. Friends may visit with Doug’s family from 12 Noon until the time of service. Burial will take place in Garfield Cemetery in Lake.
