Farwell baseball head coach Erik Schunk didn’t take comfort in the fact that his Eagles lost to a good team. Host Pine River topped Farwell 12-4 and 9-4 Tuesday night.
“I feel we should have played better,” Schunk said. “They are a good program but we have expectations for ourselves this year and the players are just not meeting them right now.”
Kyle Danielson suffered the loss for Farwell in game one, with Trent Marhofer getting a hit, two RBI and scored a run.
Curtis Robinson took the loss in game two, with Noah Wilson getting two hits and scoring twice and Clay Forfinski had three hits and a run.
On Monday, Farwell picked up a non-league win over host Valley Lutheran, 7-5.
Jacob Sutton was the winning pitcher, giving up five runs, four earned on seven hits, two strikeouts and five walks.
Dylan Brown had three hits, three RBI and also scored a run, Walter Mosby had two hits and scored twice, with Wilson and Marhofer also getting one hit apiece.
Farwell (4-6) opened Jack Pine Conference play on Thursday at Harrison and plays another league game on Tuesday at Houghton Lake.
