Eagles notch 1st win over Ithaca Friday

The Farwell baseball team topped Ithaca in its’ season opener on Friday, topping the Yellow Jackets 8-3 in a non-league game. Game two was not completed due to darkness.

Austin Hickey picked up the win for the Eagles, pitching five innings, giving up five hits and striking out six batters.

Trent Marhofer went two-for-three with a double and two RBI and also added two stolen bases. Noah Wilson also went two-for-three and scored twice, while Dylan Brown added three steals. Walter Mosby and Kyle Danielson also added one hit apiece.

On Wednesday, Farwell played at Chippewa Hills, dropping both contests in the doubleheader, 14-6 and 5-0.

Danielson took the loss, with Wilson pitching in relief, striking out four batters.

Wilson also added two hits on offense.

Jacob Sutton suffered the setback in game two, giving up five runs, three earned in three innings of work. He gave up four hits, struck out two and walked two.

Mosby, Trent Marhofer and Brown all had one hit apiece.

Farwell (1-2) hosted Montabella on Thursday, hosts Ashley tonight (Friday) and plays at Valley Lutheran on Monday.
