Edward L. Pudvay, age 78, of Midland, passed away on Monday, July 9, at Brian’s House in Bay City. He was born the son of Cecil and Agnes (Haring) Pudvay on July 26, 1933, in Clare. He married Helen F. Archambault and she survives him. Ed served in the US Army during the Korean War, with 15 months in Japan. He retired as a supervisor from Dow Chemical Corp. in Midland after 40 years with the company. Ed grew up in Clare and moved to Midland in 1978, he and Helen moved to Wixom Lake in 1982, retired to Houghton Lake where they lived for 17 years, and lived the last 3 years in Midland. Ed was a guitarist and loved music, hunting , fishing, and camping. His greatest joy in life were his seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was a member of the John Q Look Masonic Lodge in Clare and the Clare-Farwell American Legion.
Ed is survived by his wife, Helen, his children, Stephen and Linda Pudvay of Midland, and Rebecca and Jim Calanni of Colorado, his brother Joe Pudvay, sister Vernetta (Ken) Kapplinger, and brother-in-law, Ralph Randle. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Keeley, Angelina and Justin, Kurt and Brianne, Jessica, James, Margaret, and Charlotte, and great grandchildren, Elyanna, Danika, Noah, and Kieran. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Naomi Randle.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13, at 2:30 PM from the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with pastor Dennis Bromley officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. Friends may meet with his family at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to Brian’s House.
