Elizabeth Grace Bell of Farwell passed away Wednesday morning, September 19, 2012 at the MidMichigan Medical Center in Clare after a short illness; she was 86 years young. Elizabeth was born October 31, 1925 to Joseph and Mary (Volk) Snable in Akron. She attended school in Bay City, and after her marriage to Donald Bell on December 8, 1945, they moved to Clare. They lived there for over twenty years, moving to Tawas and then to Cadillac for many years. In retirement, they spent twelve years in Arizona before returning to Farwell.
Together they had five children; Bette Wager of Davenport, Florida, Barbara (James) Jones of Farwell, Beverly (Derald) Gullekson of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Bonnie (Diane Bunting) of Lyons and Donald Jr., (Cherie) of Evart. She has 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Elizabeth is also survived by one sister, Nelle Soulsby of Bay City, brother-in-law Gilbert and Colleen Bell of West Branch and sister-in-law Lorraine and James Meerdo of Essexville and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband of 65 years who passed away in June of 2011 , Elizabeth was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
During her lifetime Elizabeth enjoyed being a homemaker and preparing special meals and desserts for her family. She especially enjoyed the holidays and the family times that brought. Halloween was her favorite holiday. She enjoyed the costume parties when she was younger and then enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren dressing up and visiting her for special treats. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed working and creating in her flower and cactus gardens.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Farwell American Legion Auxiliary, or the Farwell V.F.W. Auxiliary. Arrangements were handled by the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. On-line guestbook at http://www.stephenson-wyman.com/
