Following a negotiation session, the final union contract was approved by the Clare Board of Education at a special meeting Monday evening.
A two-year contract ending June 30, 2013 was approved for the Clare Education Support Personnel Association.
The contract includes a two percent increase for 2011-2012 and a 1.5 percent increase for the 2012-2013 school year, the same increases approved for the Clare Education Association, Clare Pioneer Education Association, Clare Transportation Association and the Operations/Maintenance Group.
A three-year contract for the CEA was approved last November. It expires June 30, 2013. The CPEA contract also expires June 30, 2013, while a three year contract for the Transportation group will expire at the end of June, 2012. The Operations/Maintenance contract, also for three years expires June 30, 2013.
The latest contract also includes a “hard cap” on insurance which stipulates that the district pays approximately 75 percent of employee insurance costs for the CESP. A similar cap was approved for the CEA. For the CTA, a “sunset clause” stipulates the district will not share insurance costs for employees hired after January 1, 2006. Insurance is partially paid for full-time employees of the Operations/Maintenance Group.
