Eugene L. “Pete” Taylor, age 79, of Lake George, (formerly Highland and Grand Blanc) passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012. He was born the son of William G. and Mae E. (Smeltzer) Taylor on Sept. 6, 1933 in Grand Blanc. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, and had been a supervisor with Pontiac Motor Company. He married the former Marion “Peggy Lee” Driscoll and she preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 2011. Pete and Peggy moved to Lake George from Highland in 1985. He had been a member of the Oakland County Classic Chevy Club, the Lake George Boosters Club, and the Good Sam Camping Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Taylor (James Frost) ,his brother, Richard (Marge) Taylor of Grand Blanc, step-sons, Charlie (Dianne) Reynolds of Lake. George, Robert Reynolds of Fostoria, Darrell Copeman of Byron, and Albert Copeman of Harrison. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Traci and Nicole Lockwood, Chuck and Shari Reynolds, Rich and Audrey Reynolds, Connie and Doug Lance, Mike and Larry Reynolds, Matthew Copeman, and Kaylee Copeman, his great-grandchildren, Teal Riley, Jude Parker, Mayson and Marlee Lance, and Richie and Alyssa Reynolds. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William L. Taylor, and sisters, Catherine R. Voltenburg and Margaret Goodman.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Fall officiating. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 1 to 2 PM.. Final resting place will be the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Lake George, Michigan.
