A Farwell man will serve up to 15 years in prison for 11 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct and child pornography after his trial in 55th District Circuit Court.
Judge Thomas Evan pronounced the sentence July 7. Darin Michael Champine was found guilty after a five-day jury trial May 13.
Champine, 47, of Farwell, was found guilty of sexually exploiting three minor children, who were acquaintances.
He was found guilty of two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct, 2nd Degree; three counts of Gross Indecency; three counts of Accosting for Immoral Purpose; and three counts of Aggravated Indecent Exposure.
Champine will serve from 86 months to 15 years for 2 counts of CSC 2nd Degree; 40 months to 60 months for three counts of Gross Indecency Between Male and Female- Committing/Procuring; 32 months to 48 months for three counts of Children-Accosing to Immoral Purpose; and 16 to 24 months for three counts of Aggravated Indecent Exposure. The sentences will run concurrently. He was also ordered to pay fines, costs and restitution to the victims.
Champine will also be listed on the Sexual Offenders list and was ordered to wear a GPS tether for life.
He and Angela Lynn Parrish, 41, were arrested after a March 7, 2013 complaint to Farwell’s School Liaison Officer about the distribution of child pornography led to an investigation, criminal sexual conduct charges and charges of distributing sexual explicit material against the Farwell man and woman.
Clare County Sheriff’s Department Deputies investigated the allegations. The investigation led to the March 22, 2013 arrest of Darin Michael Champine, then 45, for three counts of CSC in the 2nd Degree; and to the arrest of Angela Lynn Parrish, age 41 at that time, on the charge of three counts of distributing sexual explicit material.
