Host Gladwin ran away with Friday night’s Jack Pine Conference football game, topping visiting Farwell 48-0.
“We ran into a tough Gladwin football team,” Farwell head coach Alan Esterline said. “They’ve been playing real well of late. Our kids played hard, we just made a few mistakes. We got the ball moving and then would put the ball on the ground. The kids played hard and we gave it everything we had we just came out on the short end of the stick.”
The Flying G’s scored 21 points in the first quarter and scored 27 more in the second frame to lead 48-0 at the break. Neither team scored in the second half as the team’s played through a running clock.
Branden Turner led the Farwell offense with 54 yards rushing on 10 carries and was three-of-13 passing for 28 yards. Walter Mosby caught all three passes.
Dustin Weber led the Eagle defense with eight tackles and Deric Szafranski had six tackles, one for a loss.
Farwell (1-7 overall, 0-6 JPC) hosts Houghton Lake (0-8, 0-6) tonight (Friday). The Bobcats are coming off a 33-0 loss to Harrison last week. Houghton Lake beat Farwell 16-14 last year.
