Farwell sweeps Ithaca Friday

Farwell opened up its softball season with two wins over Ithaca on Friday, topping the Lady Yellowjackets, 7-1 and 13-9.

Kate Saupe picked up the win in game one, pitching a complete game and striking out 10 batters.

Saupe added two hits and two runs at the plate, with Alysha Luster getting three hits, Caron White had a three RBI triple and Jessie Theisen had a single and an RBI.

Saupe earned the win in game two as well, tossing four innings, giving up seven hits and striking out eight batters.

White earned the save in game two, pitching the two final innings.

Theisen hit two home runs and had six RI, Luster had a home run, single and three RBI, Emily Ruckle and Saupe both had two hits, with White adding one hit and three RBI.

Farwell (2-0) played at Chippewa Hills on Wednesday, hosted Montabella on Thursday, hosts Ashley tonight (Friday) and plays at Valley Lutheran on Monday.
