None of Clare County’s bowling team’s could continue their seasons last week, as none could qualify in the top three at Saturday’s division three team regional at the Cheboygan Bowling Center. The three schools did combine for five individual state qualifiers however.
In the boys’ portion, Farwell came in seventh place, Harrison came in eighth and Clare placed ninth. In six baker games and three regular games the Eagles tallied 3561 total pins, the Hornets had 3479 and the Pioneers finished with 3414. Ishpeming won the regional with 4085.
In the singles’ portion of the event, Harrison had Jarod Given come in fourth with 1229 pins in six games and Farwell’s Riley Skornicka placed seventh with 1220 to also advance. Clare’s top finisher was Kyle Duffett, who missed making the state finals by two spots, coming in 12th with 1177.
Harrison’s Quincy Jones and Farwell’s Jacob Eigner were the county’s only other two top-20 finishers, coming in 17th and 20th respectively.
Standish-Sterling won the girls’ regional with a total pinfall of 3610 while Farwell led area teams with a seventh place finish and score of 3043. Harrison came in 10th with 2820 and Clare was 11th with 2621.
Courtney King of Harrison was regional champion with a total pinfall of 1079, Toni Boyd of Farwell was second with 1072 and Farwell’s Lauren Eigner was ninth with 1017 to round out area state qualifiers. Clare’s top finisher was Desiree Sayles in 40th with 873 pins.
The individual state finals are today (Friday) at Jackson’s Airport Lanes.
