A 14-year-old Clare girl was seriously injured October 21 in a two-vehicle crash east of Mt. Pleasant around 5:30 p.m. She was taken to Central Michigan Community Hospital and then airlifted to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.
According to information from the Michigan State Police at the Mt. Pleasant Post, the Clare girl was a passenger in a Chevrolet Impala that officers believe ran a red light at the corner of Broomfield and Summerton Roads and hit a Dodge Ram truck. The Chevrolet was eastbound and the Dodge was northbound.
A 16-year-old Shepherd girl was driving the Chevrolet. The Driver of the Dodge was Shane Karwowski, 23, of Mt. Pleasant. Both drivers and a one-year-old boy, a passenger in the Dodge, were also injured and taken to CMCH for treatment by Mobile Medical Response.
The names of the other three people involved in the accident have not been released.
The driver of the Dodge, Karwowski, was arrested after he was treated at the hospital for driving on a suspended license.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation
