During the month of March the Harrison Larson-Hillside S.P.A.R.K.S. program offered a reading challenge for students. Students were challenged to see how many pages they could read throughout the month. For every 200 pages read they would be able to cut 1 inch of their teacher’s hair! This challenge was in collaboration with Cancer Awareness Month. Students learned about cancer, how to prevent certain cancers, and how to help people who have cancer. The student who read the most pages was the lucky “barber” for the day! Ms. Bongard (the teacher) is donating her hair to Pantene so a wig can be made for a cancer patient.
