Garden tour set for Saturday

Over 20 ironing boards will be available for bidding.

“The Art of Gardening” an annual garden tour sponsored by the Clare County Arts Council will be on July 13th from 10:00 – 3:00. This year features three beautiful gardens by Kimberly and Bruno Persyn, Ken and Theresa Ames, and Jim and Janette Chapman. Take a tour of the newly renovated Jackson Street Chapel ending with the new landscaping at the Clare Union Railroad Depot. Cost for the tour is $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the tour. A map and listing of the gardens is on each ticket. See the gardens in whatever order works best for you. Tickets may be purchased at the Doherty Hotel and the Clare Chamber of Commerce located in the Depot.

After touring the gardens, have lunch downtown and head for the Depot for the final bidding (silent) on the “Irony” of ironing boards. Over 20 ironing boards have been turned into works of art by local artists and displayed in Harrison, Farwell and Clare for three weeks. They will be at the Depot July 13th from 10- 3 for the final bidding which ends at 3:00. Tour the gardens in the morning, have lunch and go to the depot to get your bid in.

There’s more. Three artists will be at the Depot from 10-4 showing and selling their art. Julie Wells will be showing paintings, Liz Crafton will have her jewelry on display and Bob Guiliani of Guys & Dolls Photography Studio famed for his nature photography will have hundreds of prints for sale for 50% off, framed and unframed.
