Farwell Village President Pro-tem Gina Hamilton chaired her first meeting as Village President July 7.
Hamilton was named acting President of the Village Council at the boards Committee of the Whole meeting June 24 by Village President Steve Grim.
Grim told the board he was advised by the Village attorney to appoint Hamilton to chair meetings until further notice, a move to give him time to address a partial medical disability.
Grim will still participate in meetings, he said, “with Gina acting as President.”
Information about the pending sale of property in the Industrial Park was also discussed at the COW meeting, with action taken in the regular session July 7.
The Council approved a resolution waiving Right of First Refusal on the Central Michigan Contracting property. Because of a grant reducing the property price when it was purchased by Central Michigan Contracting, the Village has the first right of refusal when the property is sold.
Other business at the Farwell Village meeting included:
*The council approved applying for a $250 scholarship from the American Water Works Association to pay a portion of $650 cost for Village employees Tracy Lee and Russ Hamilton to attend the Michigan Public Service Institute training in September;
*The council approved a payment of $2,000 for application preparation of the MDEQ SAW grant;
*Approval to hold a Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on a variance request at the next meeting;
*Approved the payment of bills totaling $45,173.25.
