Eight teams are on hand, but only one will go home as a State Champion.’

Clare is hosting the tournament for the Girl’s Little League Junior Softball State Championship this weekend.

The Clare team started Thursday morning, playing Escanaba at Stamina Stadium. They lost that first game 14-1. Coach John Merillat said they were scehduled to play their second game against Grandville Thursday afternoon and the third against Croswell-Lexington on Friday.

All eight teams: Clare Escanaba, Grandville, Croswell-Lexington, Sand Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, Taylor, South Portage and Clare play three time on Thursday and Friday.

The final four winning teams will play off for the championship on Saturday, Merillat said.
All of the games are scheduled at Stamina Stadium.
