Farwell was no match for visiting Gladwin on Friday night, as the Flying G’s handed the Eagles a 34-7 Jack Pine Conference football loss.
“I thought we did a decent job moving the ball we just put the ball down on the ground in key situations and that kind of hurt us,” Farwell head football coach Alan Esterline said.
Landon Grove did all of the damage on the night, scoring five touchdowns for Gladwin.
Grove ran in from one yard out for the only score of the first quarter, and Hayden Scott kicked the extra point to give Gladwin a 7-0 after the first.
Grove ran in from 19 and two yards out to give Gladwin a 20-0 lead at the half, with Grove adding touchdown runs of six and 10 yards in the third quarter.
Farwell got it’s lone touchdown of the night on a 52 yard touchdown run by Keegan Rohdy with 8:39 to play in the fourth quarter.
Rohdy finished with 172 yards on 19 carries, Chris Lamerand had 23 yards on 11 carries and Noah Wilson ran five times for 20 yards. Lamarand was four-of-nine passing for 58 yards.
Ryan Simmons led the defense with 14 tackles with Wilson adding six takedowns and a fumble recovery.
The Eagles (2-5 overall, 0-5 JPC) play at Houghton Lake (0-7, 0-5) tonight. The Eagles won last year’s meeting 26-20. The Bobcats lost 53-45 to Harrison last week.
“It should be a good game,” Esterline said. “We’re excited about going up there to play. We’ll let everything out and see how it plays out at the end.”
