Glenn H. Freeman, Jr. retired labor leader and resident of Harrison, MI died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 25, 2018 at the age of 79 while travelling through Moriarty, New Mexico.

12-28-18 OBIT FreemanGlenn is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marlene Freeman (Sparks), his children, Loretta McCarthy (Michael), Glenn Freeman III (Sherry), Valerie Freeman (special friend, Rhonda Kloeckner), three brothers Jim, Jack, Bill, grandsons Joe (Kylee), Ben (Rebecca), Glenn IV, and Jordan Alleshouse, and great grandchildren.

Glenn was born in Coalport, PA on May 11, 1939 to Glenn and Esther Freeman the third of seven children. Glenn retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Co. after 30 years of service and continued to devote another five decades to the labor movement and served in the following capacities; Union Steward, CWA-Michigan Bell bargaining committee, CWA Local 4040 President, AFL-CIO Labor Council President, CAUW Executive Board and Michigan State AFL-CIO Executive Board. Glenn passionately defended people and causes in which he believed.

Glenn was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, travel, gambling, and spending time with his grandsons.

At Glenn’s request, his body was cremated. A celebration of life gathering is planned from 1:00 pm -3:00 pm at CWA Local, 320 Clare St. Lansing, MI on April 27, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital Area United Way.
