Isabella County Sheriff’s deputies had an unusual call while on patrol last Monday.
They were told that a man had discovered two grave markers (headstones) near his home in the 5000 block of East Valley Road in Union Township.

They found the markers, one for Frank A. Tardiff with the dates 1878-1950 and the second for Cecil E. O’Donnell with the dates 1907-1962. They did not know where the headstones came from and were hoping someone would recognize them and call in.

Monday’s release from Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski Monday said, “The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department is working with local funeral homes to help identify family members.
An updated release Wednesday reported that O’Donnell’s daughter in Royal Oak said she had checked and found that her fathers grave marker was still in place, making the one found by deputies a duplicate.

Anyone with information on the Tardiff marker is asked to  contact the Sheriff’s Department at (989) 773-1000.
