Gross competes at golf finals

Clare’s JJ Gross battled it out with the best division three golfers in the state on Friday and Saturday. Gross, who had qualified for the state finals as an individual

at regionals the week prior, hit two solid rounds at Forest Akers West in the division three state championship.

Gross hit a round of 80 on Friday, putting him in a tie for 15th place. He took a step back on day two, hitting an 85 on a rain-soaked course. This score knocked him out of the top-20.

Pierce Morrissey of Big Rapids had a two day total of 147 to win the individual state championship, Ryan Anderson of Grand Rapids West Catholic was second with a score of 150 and Houghton Lake’s Brock Decker was third with a 152.
