The burned body of a 47-year-old man was found in a burned house after a fire was extinguished in Arthur Township last Saturday evening. The remains were not identified until Wednesday afternoon and the cause of death has not been released yet.

The name of the victim will not be released until family members are notified.
Police reported Wednesday afternoon that the State Fire Marshall is investigating the origin and cause of the fire, which was reported just before 6:30 p.m. April 5.

Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski said a neighbor reported the blaze in the family home in the 4000 block of South Hoover Road. “It appears that the fire may have been started intentionally. We are treating it as a suspicious fire,” the Undersheriff said.
Harrison, Gladwin and Clare Fire Departments were on the scene for nearly six hours, clearing the scene around 12:21 a.m., Miedzianowski said. The house was heavily damaged.

He said the house was a family home with parents and one or two children located in Clare County but with a Beaverton address. Some of the family members were out of state, but are now back in the area, Miedzianowski said.
