Harrison man dies, three others injured in truck-semi crash

A Clare County man died and three others from the area were injured early Tuesday morning in an accident on M-115 northwest of 13th Street in Cadillac.

A release from the Wexford County Sheriff’s Department said a pick-up truck driving northwest with four occupants hit a semi-tractor/trailer exiting a private drive around 5:45 a.m. July 15. The said the truck slid under the trailer injuring all four men in the truck.

Reportedly the accident shut down M-115 for a few hours.

Three of the four men in the pickup were taken to Munson Medical Center with injuries and a fourth, Joe Hershberger, 38, of Harrison, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cadillac where he died from his injuries.

The other occupants of the vehicle were Butch Clark of Harrison, Tom Hubbard of Evart and Scott Peterson of Coleman. According to a family member, Butch Clark is hospitalized with serious injuries. The condition of the others is not known yet.

Deputies said the investigation into the accident is still ongoing and further details not yet unavailable.
