Harrison’s football team had enough of losing. Friday night the Hornets traveled to Houghton Lake, topping the Bobcats and erased their four game losing streak in the process.
The Hornets took to the ground game for most of their success in the Jack Pine Conference game, totaling 360 yards on the ground.
Harrison scored once in the first quarter to lead 6-0 and had a touchdown and two-point conversion in the second to pull ahead 14-0 at the half.
The Hornets had seven points in the third to lead 21-0 and put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns.
Justin Yager ran for 149 yards on nine carries and four touchdowns. Justice Walraven added 10 rushes for 100 yards, Zach Nowland had 42 yards on seven carries, Gavin Rhodes ran five times for 34 yards and Josh Wilson had 30 yards and a score on 12 tries.
Bret Coughlin led the Hornet defense with 12 tackles, Michael Taylor had seven tackles and a fumble recovery, Jarrod Given and Clay Dennis both had six tackle and Yager had five tackles and an interception.
Harrison (2-6 overall, 2-4 JPC) plays at Gladwin (6-2, 5-1) tonight (Friday). The Flying G’s topped Farwell 48-0 last week.
