Harrison Street Fair this weekend

Big plans are underway for the arrival of the Michigan Old U.S. 27 Motor Tour.

Sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority and to celebrate the tour, Harrison wall hold their annual two-day celebration, the 2013 Streetfair on August 23rd and 24th with arts and crafts vendors, a beer and wine tent, kids carnival, a 5K Run/Walk, a motorcycle and car Fun Run and local live entertainment.

Along with the classic vehicles on display, Friday events include vendors, a Veteran’s Display and food vendors from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; antiques appraisal by the Antique Appraisal Guy from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; a DJ Spinoff, bus transportation and Transit Bus Tours from noon to 3 p.m. and a Talent Show from 3 to 6 p.m.

Saturday events include a 5K Run/Walk; a Fun Run for cars and motorcycles; vendors service vehicles and the Veteran’s Display from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; antique snowmobiles from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Queen of Spades Drawing beginning at 10 a.m. a petting zoo, pony rides, the Animal Shelter and a Library Display from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and from noon to 3 p.m. a signing by Judy Hedlund, author of Unending Devotion, a novel about the Surrey House. The 9&10 Soft Ball Game will begin at City Park at noon and the day winds up with live music by the “Brenda Loomis Band” and “Alfie and the Gang” from 3 to 7 p.m.

The “Fun Run for Funds” on Saturday with registration from 9 to 11 a.m. in front of the Harrison City Hall, is a self-guided motorcycle/automobile tour through 72 miles of hardwood forests and farm country in Clare and Midland counties. The tour ends up at the Harrison Street Fair with a prize award ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

The 5K Run/Walk also begins with registration a 9 a.m. in front of the Surrey House. The race begins at 10 a.m. and awards will go to the first male and female overall.
