After an early 7-7 deadlock, Lake City rattled off 53 straight points Thursday night, giving the Trojans a 60-7 win in both team’s football opener.
Lake City took a 7-0 lead early in the game, though Harrison ended a 34 yard scoring drive when quarterback Jacob Stuhr tossed a four yard touchdown pass to Randy Johnson to help tie the game at seven.
However, Lake City scored a touchdown later in the quarter to make it 14-7 after the first, took a 33-7 edge at the half and 40-7 lead after the third. The Trojans picked up 20 more points in the fourth to account for the final.
Stuhr finished the night five-of-15 passing for 60 yards, one touchdown and one interceptions. Jake Walraven had 46 yards on 11 carries, Cody Rodgers had 40 yards on 11 touches and Ryan Johnson had 23 yards on seven tries.
“We started out playing very hard, scoring, causing turnovers,” Harrison head coach Mike Petrongelli said. “I hope we learned we can play well, but we have to do it for a whole game.”
Harrison played host to Evart (1-0) yesterday. The Wildcats topped Suttons Bay 37-0 last week. The Hornets open up Jack Pine Conference play next Friday, hosting Roscommon (0-1).
